CLASPP is active at the State Capitol, protecting the interests of Louisiana's treatment providers. CLASPP aims to be representative of the entire state, with a membership of providers from all 10 DHH adminstrative regions of Louisiana.
CLASPP closely monitors legislation that may affect the funding or infrastructure of treatment facilities and attends relative hearings and committee meetings.
CLASPP has spoken numerous times before the legislature advocating for the treatment community.
CLAPP is represented locally by registered advocates.
CLASPP's interests are represented nationally as a member of Treatment Communities of America (TCA). TCA is a consortium of over 600 programs sites across the nation that provide an array of integrated services which include primary and preventive care, outreach; education, assessment, referral and follow-up; detoxification and crisis management; residential treatment with aftercare support; outpatient services; family therapy; mental health services; vocational assistance and job placement; emergency, transitional and permanent housing with supportive services.
CLASPP members are welcome to attend quarterly TCA meetings to discuss the national trends in substance abuse treatment and to confer with collegues outside of the state. TCA actively engages in Hill visits, keeping members' issues in the forefront of Congressional and House members.
TCA is represented by Winning Strategies, a Washington D.C. advocacy group.
