SAMHSA releases issue brief on the opioid crisis and Hispanic/Latino populations

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration recently released a new issue brief titled “The Opioid Crisis and the Hispanic/Latino Population: An Urgent Issue.” The brief provides a snapshot of how the population is impacted by the opioid crisis, including recent data on the prevalence of opioid misuse and overdose death rates; contextual factors that impact the opioid crisis in these communities, including early intervention and treatment; highlights of innovative outreach and engagement strategies that have the potential to connect individuals with evidence-based prevention, treatment, and recovery services; and the importance of ongoing community voice and leadership in the development and implementation of solutions.
