The Louisiana Department of Health has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). This RFP places an emphasis on:
Behavioral health integration
Child and maternal health outcome improvement
Delivery system reform
Disaster planning and recovery
Department of Justice settlement agreement requirements
Fraud, waste and abuse initiatives
Health equity
Increased MCO accountability
It is the intent that the existing emergency contracts with Aetna Better Health, AmeriHealth Caritas of Louisiana, Healthy Blue, Louisiana Healthcare Connections and United Healthcare of Louisiana will be extended until new contracts are awarded and executed through the RFP selection process.
