Attorney General William Barr recently announced the appointment of Timothy J. Shea as Acting Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Prior to his appointment with the DEA, Mr. Shea served as Interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, leading the largest U.S. Attorney’s Office in the country and serving on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee. Mr. Shea also served as Associate Deputy Attorney General and Counselor to the Attorney General where he advised the Attorney General on law enforcement operations, criminal justice policy, and management issues affecting the Department. Finally, Mr. Shea also served in several State government and congressional roles during his career. He earned his J.D. degree from the Georgetown University Law Center and is a senior staff member of the America Criminal Law Review.
